Howdy, Friends O'Farley…
It's been a month since the last Farley Report, and Arizonans have been blessed with very little action from the current supermajority at the Legislature, despite some empty threats to once again undercut voters' wishes. So this report will be brief and to the point.
Candidates all over the state have instead been out in our new districts calling and knocking on doors, raising money, filling out questionnaires, and gaining endorsements. Speaking of the latter, I am humbled to have received the support of many terrific organizations in the last month, including:
--> Arizona Education Association
--> Professional Fire Fighters of Arizona
--> Arizona Fraternal Order of Police
--> Arizona Association of Realtors
--> Associated General Contractors of Arizona
--> Arizona AFL-CIO
--> Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association
--> Planned Parenthood of Arizona
--> Arizona Medical Association
All these groups agree that it's time for a changed Legislature in Phoenix. It's time to stop wasting our time and energy on partisan grandstanding, and get to work creating jobs and improving our schools so our kids can compete in the world economy. This is the year to do it, and we can if we all work together.
I need your help so we can create real change in Arizona. There are just over three months left in which to do the work we need to do to elect a legislature that actually works on our real priorities. Here's what you can do:
--> You can contribute $25, $50, $100, or even $200 right now -- please go online to my secure website via ActBlue. We need to counter the money that will be flowing against our campaign from big out of state corporations, fueled by the Citizens United decision.
--> You can volunteer to make calls or knock on doors -- please sign up right now on my website. We are now redoubling our efforts, and I need as many friends helping as possible. We are walking and calling jointly with Ron Barber's campaign, so you can help Ron and me at the same time! Sign up online, and come to Ron's HQ, 3400 E. Speedway (just behind Ike's Coffee in the Whole Foods shopping center) to help. Here is the schedule:
Walking: Saturdays at 8:30am, Sundays at 4:00pm
Calling: Mondays-Thursdays 1pm-3pm or 5pm-8pm (drop by during those hours)
If you can, please email Alma to let us know you are coming.
--> You can host a house party for me in the new LD9 -- please also sign up on my website and email my campaign manager Alma Hernandez at firstname.lastname@example.org so she can schedule you in. This is a great way of introducing me to your friends and neighbors so they can understand the stakes. I have a goal of attending 30 house parties in August and September -- you can help me get there.
--> You can put a snazzy new Farley yard sign in your front yard in LD9 -- please sign up right now on my website, and we will deliver it to you in the next couple of weeks.
--> You can forward this email to your friends so we can expand our circle and win.
Thank you so much for your support. We will do this together.
--> I do want to mention one non-political event that may interest you. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is holding the next phase of public meetings for their three-year Tucson-Phoenix Passenger Rail study, and you are invited to tell them what you want.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 15 from 1 – 4pm at the University of Arizona University Services Annex (former Tucson Electric Power Building), 220 W. 6th St, in Tucson. In the meantime, you can view the six corridor alternatives in a PDF file available online here:
Thanks to you, we are getting close to another transportation alternative to I-10 !
Thanks for your continuing faith in me as your Representative.
